A 15-year-old boy was killed after a shot was fired during a wedding procession late Thursday night in Sagar. The incident took place near Gola Kuan under the Motinagar police station area. The victim, identified as Vivek Bansal (15), was playing in a band that was leading the wedding procession. He was shot in the chest and collapsed on the spot. He died while being taken to the hospital. Firing during wedding procession According to police, a wedding ceremony of the Soni family was being held at Sagar Saroj Marriage Garden in Motinagar. The procession was moving from Gola Kuan towards the venue, with the band party walking at the front. During the procession, a man in the crowd allegedly pulled out a country-made pistol and fired. The bullet struck Vivek directly in the chest, causing heavy bleeding. Panic spread among the wedding guests as chaos followed the gunshot. People present at the scene managed to catch one suspect and handed him over to the police. Declared dead at medical college Vivek was first taken to a nearby private hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to Bundelkhand Medical College (BMC). However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Doctors said the bullet hit a sensitive part of his chest, leading to severe blood loss. Drone cameras seized for evidence Given the seriousness of the case, police seized drone cameras that were recording the event. Officials believe the footage will help determine who fired the shot and with what intention. CSP Lalit Kashyap confirmed that the minor died from a gunshot wound. The accused has been identified, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for Friday morning. Only son, family protests Vivek was the only son of his family and supported them financially by playing in wedding bands. After receiving news of his death, family members staged protests outside the hospital and police station. They demanded that a murder case be registered against the accused. The protest ended after police officials assured them of strict action. Eyewitness account Vivek’s fellow band member, Khilan Bansal, said they were playing music as usual when they suddenly heard a loud sound. “At first, we didn’t realise it was a gunshot. Then we saw Vivek collapse and noticed blood. That’s when panic spread,” he said. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
