madhya-pradesh-restores-ration-distribution-after-server-fix:1.32-crore-beneficiaries-to-receive-supplies-without-disruption

Nearly 1.32 crore beneficiaries across Madhya Pradesh will now receive ration supplies without difficulty after a five-day server outage disrupted distribution at more than 28,000 fair price shops. The biometric Point of Sale (PoS) machines installed at ration shops had stopped functioning due to a server failure, preventing beneficiaries from accessing their food grain entitlements. The technical issue was resolved on Thursday, and officials confirmed that regular distribution will resume from Friday. Server downtime halted biometric verification The biometric machines, installed by a private technology firm, require beneficiaries to authenticate their identity through thumb impressions before ration is issued. For the past five days, server-related problems and ongoing system upgrades, including software updates, caused the machines to remain non-functional. As a result, ration distribution was temporarily suspended across the state. District Supply Officer Chandrabhan Singh Jadaun said the issue has now been resolved, ensuring smooth operations going forward. Coverage across the state Under the public distribution system in Madhya Pradesh, 13,245,841 beneficiaries receive food grains through 28,070 ration shops statewide. In Bhopal alone, 502 ration shops cater to approximately 350,000 beneficiaries. Ration entitlements explained Under the scheme: Additionally, beneficiaries receive 1 kg of sugar and 1 kg of salt as part of their entitlement. Officials have assured that distribution will now continue smoothly without further interruption.
