Two young women have been arrested in Rewa on suspicion of smuggling cow meat. The police have recovered the suspected meat and sent it to a laboratory for examination. Both women are being questioned as the investigation continues. The incident happened on Sunday in Lohi village under the Saman police station area. The arrested women have been identified as Muskan Khan (23) and Rubia Khan (20), both residents of Amirti village in the Govindgarh police station area. Police have started a detailed investigation into the case. When villagers stopped them, they tried to flee TI Manisha Upadhyay said that villagers had suspected these young women of smuggling beef for several days. On Sunday, when both young women were seen going on a scooter, villagers tried to stop them. But instead of stopping, they turned the scooter towards the Lohi canal. Villagers started chasing them. After going a short distance, the scooter skidded and fell. Fearing capture, Muskan and Rubiya threw the meat they had into the canal. After this, they threw stones at the villagers. One stone hit Anand Singh Baghel, a farmer and worker of a Hindu organisation, causing a serious head injury. Police retrieved the meat from the canal Villagers surrounded and caught both young women. Then, they called the police. Police arrived at the scene. They retrieved the meat from the canal. TI Upadhyay said that further action in the matter would be taken by the Samaan police station.
