Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has set a clear timeline for all construction and infrastructure works related to Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain, directing that they be completed by Diwali 2027—six months ahead of the mega religious event. At the fifth meeting of the ministerial committee formed for Simhastha 2028, held at the state secretariat, the CM stressed that early completion would help ensure smooth event execution without last-minute disruptions. Focus on training and preparedness Yadav also instructed that officials and staff be given timely training in crowd management and other logistical arrangements. He stressed the need for comprehensive preparation to efficiently handle the large influx of devotees expected during Simhastha. Adequate staffing across departments should be ensured immediately, he said, adding that intensive training programs must be initiated for personnel assigned various responsibilities related to the event. Emphasis on quality and Timely execution Highlighting the importance of infrastructure, Dr. Yadav directed that all development and construction works must be completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high-quality standards. Regular monitoring, review mechanisms, and effective information, education, and communication (IEC) activities were also stressed. Review of ongoing works in Ujjain During the meeting, the CM reviewed the progress of ongoing construction works in Ujjain and sought details on challenges faced by the administration. Prior to the meeting, the state cabinet approved ₹590 crore for land acquisition to develop an airport in Ujjain. The allocated funds will be used to facilitate the land procurement process for the proposed airport project, aimed at improving connectivity ahead of Simhastha 2028.
