Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav chaired the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The state cabinet has approved the establishment of a Financial Training and Research Institute (FTRI) in Bhopal to strengthen financial management, research, and budget analysis in the state. Several key proposals related to agriculture, infrastructure, education, and welfare were also cleared during the cabinet meeting. Financial Institute to boost governance The proposed Financial Training and Research Institute will focus on research in financial management, budget assessment, and related administrative functions. Initially, it will operate from the State Administrative Academy. ₹590 crore approved for Ujjain airport Keeping the upcoming Simhastha in mind, the Cabinet approved ₹590 crore for land acquisition to develop an airport in Ujjain. The airport will be developed under the central government’s UDAN scheme, with construction to be carried out by the Centre. The project is expected to improve connectivity and ease transportation during Simhastha. Irrigation project to benefit Mandsaur The Cabinet also approved the Katan Irrigation Project linked to the Gandhi Sagar Dam in Mandsaur district. Procurement of pulses approved The government has approved procurement of pulses: A total budget of ₹3,174 crore has been sanctioned for this purpose. Wheat procurement in the state will begin from April 9, with priority given to small farmers. Major funds for ongoing schemes The Cabinet approved continuation of several key schemes: Scholarship for SC students increased A significant hike in scholarships for Scheduled Caste (SC) students was also approved. The monthly scholarship has been increased from ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 for undergraduate and postgraduate students, considering rising costs. Statewide Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations The Chief Minister announced that programmes marking Ambedkar Jayanti will be held across all district headquarters from April 8 to April 14. The main state-level event will take place in Bhind, with celebrations also planned at block levels. Infrastructure push and Recent approvals Calling the past week “auspicious” for the state, the Chief Minister highlighted infrastructure approvals by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Key approvals include Link road connecting NH-44 and NH-39 These projects are expected to boost trade, tourism, and economic activities in the region. Ujjain’s cultural and Scientific significance highlighted CM also spoke about the international conference “Mahakal: The Master of Time” held in Ujjain, where renowned astronomers discussed the scientific basis and historical significance of Indian time calculation. He noted that Ujjain was historically a major centre for timekeeping, and efforts are being made to restore its global recognition.
