The Madhya Pradesh government has consistently made large claims and organized major events to attract investment. Opposition parties have frequently questioned the expenditure on investment summits and roadshows. A recent question raised in the Lok Sabha by BJP MP Anita Nagar Singh Chauhan (Ratlam–Jhabua) has brought out startling details regarding plastic park projects in the state, exposing a major gap between promises and actual outcomes. According to data presented in Parliament, the government’s claims of generating employment through industrial cluster development in Madhya Pradesh appear to be progressing much slower than expected. Tamot Plastic Park: High Spending, Minimal Jobs The plastic park located in Tamot, in Raisen district, was approved in 2013 with a total project cost of ₹108 crore, including ₹40 crore in central government assistance. Despite heavy public investment, the employment outcome has been extremely limited. Big promises at launch The foundation stone of the project was laid on June 5, 2015, by then Union Minister Sushma Swaraj and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Bilaua Plastic park: Situation even worse The plastic park in Bilaua, located in Gwalior district, presents an even more disappointing picture. Despite completed infrastructure, the project has failed to attract private investors.
