The Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has declared the election of Congress MLA Mukesh Malhotra from the Vijaypur Assembly seat void. The court delivered the verdict on a petition filed by BJP leader and former minister Ramniwas Rawat, who had contested the by-election from Vijaypur. In his petition, Rawat alleged that while filing his nomination during the bypoll, Malhotra did not disclose complete details of the criminal cases registered against him. According to the petition, six criminal cases were registered against Malhotra, but he mentioned only two in the affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers.
