If you have not yet completed the e-KYC for your LPG connection, do so immediately, as the deadline ends today. From 1 October, e-KYC will become mandatory for 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinders. This means that from tomorrow, users whose LPG connection e-KYC has not been completed will neither be able to book a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder nor receive the subsidy. However, you can complete the verification through the mobile app. e-KYC completed for 89.9% of users According to the Ministry of Petroleum, authentication has been completed for 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers, or 89.9%, as of 19 September. Their refill bookings will continue without any interruption. For consumers whose authentication is incomplete, subsidised refill bookings will be processed only after authentication. You will still get a cylinder without completing e-KYC The government has said that consumers who do not wish to undergo biometric authentication or are unable to do so will also receive cylinders, but they will not be eligible for the subsidy. For this, they will have to select their option through a digital channel, app, WhatsApp or IVRS. They will be provided with 5 kg or 10 kg cylinders at the market rate. The e-KYC deadline has been extended repeatedly The initial deadline was set for 30 June, which was later extended to 31 July, 7 August, 15 August, 23 August, 31 August, 7 September and finally 14 September to give consumers sufficient time. Companies’ losses cross ₹62,000 crore According to government data, a subsidy of around ₹210 is being provided on 14.2kg cylinders in September. Public-sector oil companies’ outstanding losses on domestic LPG had crossed ₹62,000 crore by 31 August. If the status does not show as successful, ask the gas agency to confirm the e-KYC status in your consumer record.
