Another person dies in Bhagirathpura, Indore, due to contaminated water. On Friday, 63-year-old Badri Prasad passed away. He was admitted to Aurobindo Hospital on January 17 with vomiting and diarrhea and was also suffering from tuberculosis. With his death, the total number of people who have died in Bhagirathpura has reached 26. The health crisis continues as 10 more people are now admitted to the hospital. One patient is on a ventilator, and the health department says 8 of the admitted patients have other health problems as well. 70% of the work to be completed this month In the case of the Bhagirathpura contaminated water incident, water supply has started every other day in 30% of the area. Regular testing is also being done. However, it will take time for residents’ trust to be established. Most residents are still using RO and tanker water. The pipeline work going on in the remaining 70% of the area is expected to be completed this month. Actually, 30% of the work that started here after the accident is in the area where the main pipeline was laid two years ago. Nevertheless, after checking every leakage here following the accident, water supply has resumed every other day. According to local councilor Kamal Waghela, the significant work of laying a new main pipeline in the remaining 70% area is progressing rapidly. It will be completed by the end of January. More than 50 tankers are distributing water daily in the area. In some parts, due to pipeline work, tankers are being brought closer to the streets so that people have to walk a shorter distance to fetch water. Meanwhile, 25 deaths have occurred in this case so far, but initially the administration acknowledged 4 deaths, then 6 deaths. After this, in the report presented to the High Court, 15 deaths out of 21 were acknowledged. The next status report is to be presented on January 27. According to CMHO Dr. Madhav Hasani, currently, a 58-year-old male is undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital for a severe leg infection and kidney disease. At Care CHL Hospital, a 23-year-old female is suffering from MCHB, basal meningitis with hydrocephalus. At Aurobindo Hospital, a 63-year-old male is admitted due to multiple medical complications such as MTB, high blood pressure, and viral hepatitis. A 66-year-old female is suffering from liver inflammation and infection. A 70-year-old male is suffering from severe injuries and SDH. Two other patients, admitted to the ward, are in the process of being discharged after fully recovering from diarrhea. Similarly, at Bombay Hospital, a 65-year-old male is suffering from Multi-Organ Dysfunction Syndrome and encephalopathy. A 65-year-old female and a 72-year-old male are suffering from sensory polyneuropathy. A 67-year-old female is admitted due to hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, meaning an illness caused by a lack of oxygen in the brain.
