He received an invitation to a party from the other end, and Sapnesh immediately got ready. Reached the market… then suddenly disappeared Sapnesh reached Kareli, but after that, no one knew where he went. Night fell. The family thought he might have been delayed by some work. But the entire night passed, and he neither returned home nor did any call come from him. The next morning, when he was still nowhere to be found, the family’s concern grew. The search began at the homes of relatives, friends, and acquaintances. Inquiries were also made in the village, but no clue was found anywhere. Also discussions in the area about fleeing with debt Sapnesh’s mobile was switched off and his bike was also missing. Finally, on January 25, the family filed a missing person report at Kareli police station. A whole week passed. Sapnesh was nowhere to be found. During the investigation, various discussions also started emerging in the village. A villager told the police that Sapnesh already had a lot of debt. To escape the pressure from creditors, he had gone to Indore with his wife. Later, when the family repaid the debt, he returned to the village. The villager said that he had again borrowed from many people, so it is possible that he might have gone somewhere again. The last phone call raised suspicion Police obtained Sapnesh’s call details. The investigation revealed that his last conversation before disappearing was with Suryaprakash Patel. Suryaprakash was also his relative. Police took him into custody and interrogated him. He admitted that he had called Sapnesh for a liquor party. However, after this, he repeatedly kept saying that Sapnesh must have gone somewhere due to debt. His answers, instead of reducing the police’s suspicion, were increasing it. A few days later, the body was found in the pond On January 31, villagers spotted a body in the water of a pond located near Dooda village, a few kilometres from Kareli. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene. Having been in the water for seven days, the body was badly decomposed. Sapnesh was missing, so the police called his family for identification, and the body turned out to be Sapnesh’s. Post-mortem report revealed the truth Initially, the police were investigating both aspects: suicide and accident. Since the body was found in the pond, there was also a suspicion of death by drowning. But the post-mortem report clarified the whole picture. Doctors clarified that Sapnesh’s death was not due to drowning, but due to strangulation. Marks of tightening with something like a wire were found on his neck. It became clear that he was first murdered and then his body was thrown into the pond. Suspicion pointed towards the wife and relative Now the police started investigating who could benefit the most from Sapnesh’s murder. During this, Sapnesh’s brother provided important information. He said that Suryaprakash was a frequent visitor to the house once he had also seen Suryaprakash and his sister-in-law, Slekha, sitting together, having breakfast and joking. Now the police faced these questions- Is Suryaprakash misleading the police? Is the real killer someone else? Does Sapnesh’s wife have any role in this murder? Or, was Sapnesh’s murder due to a debt dispute?
