Ratlam’s Head Constable Tapesh Gosai has been arrested red-handed while taking a bribe in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. During the raid, the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) recovered 50 thousand rupees from his pocket. Tapesh, posted at Industrial Nagar Police Station in Ratlam, had demanded a bribe of one lakh 10 thousand rupees in exchange for not assaulting an arrested accused in a land fraud case and for cooperating in the investigation. He had already collected one instalment of 10 thousand rupees and had arrived at a hotel in Bhilwara to collect 50 thousand rupees from the remaining amount. ACB Director General Govind Gupta said – The matter is related to the complaint of Ratan Jangid, a businessman residing on 80 Feet Road, Ratlam. He had alleged that Mohammad Liyaqat (70), a resident of Bhilwara, had brokered a deal for a closed oil mill and land in front of the new RTO office in Ratlam for 11 crore 10 lakh rupees. Liaqat took 25 lakh 76 thousand rupees from Jangid, but neither got the land agreement done nor arranged a meeting with the owner. On this complaint, the Industrial Area Police Station of Ratlam registered a case of fraud. After which, Liaqat was arrested. Threatened to parade him in handcuffs ACB Director General Gupta said that Head Constable Tapesh Gosai demanded one lakh 10 thousand rupees from Liaqat’s brother in exchange for cooperation in the case. Liaqat’s brother immediately gave him 10 thousand rupees. He said that when Ratlam police bring Liaqat to Bhilwara for investigation, he would give the second instalment of 50 thousand rupees. Then, a complaint was filed with the ACB regarding the matter. On Monday, Tapesh, ASI Kailash Saini and another constable reached Bhilwara with Liaquat. All stayed in room number 104 of the hotel. Tapesh threatened that if the money was not received, he would parade Liaquat handcuffed throughout the city. According to the trap, the ACB team stayed in room number 105 of the same hotel. As soon as Liaquat’s brother gave the signal, the team raided. Ratlam SP said – Action will be taken after investigation Ratlam SP Amit Kumar said – The role of ASI Kailash Saini and another constable in the matter has not been clarified. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
