A 4-month-old baby girl died due to malnutrition in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, while her twin brother is in serious condition. He has been referred from the district hospital to Higher Center Rewa, where he is admitted to the PICU. Both children had been suffering from vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and dysentery for about 15 days. According to information, the deceased baby girl, Supranshi, was the daughter of mother Vimla and father Natthu Prajapati, residents of Surangi. Her twin brother’s name is Naitik. Due to lack of proper nutrition and timely treatment, the condition of both children continuously deteriorated, but they continued to receive treatment from a quack in Jugulpur village. Notice to Supervisor and Anganwadi Worker Action has been initiated on the instructions of Collector Dr. Satish Kumar. Rajiv Singh, an officer of the Women and Child Development Department, has issued notices to Sector Supervisor Karuna Pandey and Anganwadi worker Pooja Pandey, seeking their response. Along with this, a joint team led by Majhgawan SDM Mahipal Singh Gurjar raided the clinic of quack doctor Premlal Anuragi in Jugulpur village on Wednesday night. During the investigation, about 100 types of medicines used to treat different diseases were found in the clinic. Admitted to PICU ward for treatment According to the family, when the children’s condition did not improve, they took both children from the quack to the Majhgawan Community Health Center at 5 PM on Tuesday. From there, after primary treatment, they were sent to Satna District Hospital. Upon reaching Satna District Hospital at around 8 PM, both children were immediately admitted to the PICU ward and treatment was started. Both children were found to be suffering from severe malnutrition During the examination, both children were found to be suffering from severe malnutrition. Their weight was significantly less than normal. On Wednesday evening around 4 PM, Supranshi passed away during treatment. After this, the body was sent to Surangi village with the grandmother and an Anganwadi worker, while at the same time, Naithik, in serious condition, was sent to Rewa Medical College with his parents. ASHA worker did not make regular contact Vimla, the mother of the deceased child, stated that they did not receive benefits from any scheme other than vaccination. The ASHA worker did not make regular contact, due to which timely advice and help could not be provided. This is now being considered a major negligence on the part of the field staff. Did not get mother’s milk, condition worsened due to wrong diet The investigation revealed that due to the mother’s physical weakness, she was unable to breastfeed the children. In such a situation, they were being given goat and cow milk, which is dangerous at this age. From birth to six months, only mother’s milk is the source of adequate nutrition for the baby, but the family did not receive proper guidance. Low birth weight, doctors’ advice According to Project Officer Abhay Dwivedi, the twin children were born on December 21, 2025, at Majhgawan Community Health Center. At birth, Naitik weighed 2.953 kg and Supranshi weighed 2.862 kg. Only mother’s milk should be given for six months According to pediatrician Dr. Sandeep Dwivedi, a 4-month-old baby’s normal weight should be 4 to 5 kg. Only mother’s milk should be given from birth to six months, to avoid such situations. Was running a clinic without a license BMO Dr. Rupesh Soni informed that Premlal Anuragi did not have any valid license to practice medicine. He had been treating Supranshi and Naitik, children suffering from severe malnutrition for the past 15 days, but he did not send either of them to Majhgawan Community Health Center. Based on the BMO’s report, a case has been registered against the accused Premlal Anuragi, son of Gaya Prasad, resident of Jugulpur, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Madhya Pradesh Rujopchar Adhiniyam.
