Rahul Ghuraiya alias Raj, a habitual offender from Madhya Pradesh who molested a woman in Jaipur, was not only living in hiding during his absconding period in Jaipur but was also strengthening his criminal network. Jaipur Police investigation revealed that the accused was in contact with active criminals in Sanganer and Pratapnagar areas and was providing them with illegal weapons. The accused had been living in a rented house in Jaipur for about two and a half years and working in a spa center. Surprisingly, the police were unaware of his activities for such a long time. His living and working arrangements were made by local criminals. The case came to light when an incident of molestation of a pregnant woman came to light in Malviya Nagar Sector-9 area. The victim lodged a report at Jawahar Circle police station, but the matter was not taken seriously at the initial stage. Later, after the video of the incident went viral on social media, police negligence was exposed and action was expedited. During the investigation, raids were conducted in search of the accused, meanwhile, he surrendered in Morena Court. Later, the police brought him to Jaipur on a production warrant. DCP East Ranjita Sharma stated that during interrogation, it was revealed that the accused was trying to acquire weapons at an international level and was in contact with a Pakistani website to obtain an AK-47. He also used to upload photos with weapons on social media, after which the Madhya Pradesh police started pursuing him, and he came to Jaipur and hid. Based on the accused’s information, the police raided several places and recovered illegal pistols. A country-made pistol was also recovered from an accused and his associate “Chhota Raj” in the Pratapnagar area. Shubham Agarwal alias Siddharth, a resident of Niwai (Tonk), and Babulal Barala, a resident of Peeplu, have been arrested on charges of harboring the accused. Both were operating spa centers in Jaipur, and their criminal records have also come to light. The investigation also revealed that neither the police verification of the accused was done, nor did the landlords follow the tenant verification process. More than 17 criminal cases are said to be registered against the accused Rahul. Currently, the police are investigating the entire network and trying to find out to whom the accused supplied weapons and who else is involved in this gang.
