Amid the commercial LPG supply being shut for 13 days, the government issued orders on Monday night to supply gas to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and street food vendors in Madhya Pradesh. Supply is expected to resume from Tuesday. According to the order, hotels, restaurants, and carts will be given 9 percent commercial LPG supply, while dhabas and street food vendors will get 7 percent gas. In addition, instructions have been given to provide cylinders to caterers and other industries. More than 50,000 hotels and restaurants in the state were affected due to the commercial gas supply being stalled for 13 days. Many hotels were on the verge of closing, while menus had to be changed at several places. The situation became such that work had to be managed through diesel furnaces and induction, which most severely impacted small dhabas and street food vendors. Shortage due to lack of supply orders It is being reported that the central government’s new guidelines provide for giving 10 percent commercial cylinders, but due to a lack of clear supply orders, there has been a gas shortage in the state. This has deepened the crisis for hotel-restaurant businesses. Association had made demand a day before Regarding the gas crisis, hotel and restaurant organizations had met Additional Chief Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department Rashmi Shami one day before, demanding restoration of uninterrupted gas supply. Only after this did the government issue orders. Relief for 2000 hotels in Bhopal Tejkulpal Singh Pali, president of Bhopal Hotel and Restaurant Association, said that the hotel business was on the verge of shutting down due to restrictions on commercial gas supply. Meanwhile, NRAI representative Abhishek Baheti said that not getting gas had created a major crisis, and this decision will now provide relief.
