Two youths were allegedly killed by their uncle and cousin in Dharmapuri of Ashta, under the Siddikganj police station area, on Friday. According to police, the incident was reportedly triggered by a dispute over family land. Tensions escalated after the murders, and angry relatives assaulted a constable outside the post-mortem room at the hospital. The victims have been identified as Sheetal (20) and Kuldeep (19). The accused are their uncle Harisingh Malviya (55) and his son Hemant Malviya (28). Police have registered a murder case and detained both suspects for questioning. Dispute over forest land According to the police, Harisingh Malviya and Jagdish Malviya are real brothers. They have been in a dispute for several years over possession of forest land. On 20 October 2025, Harisingh’s son Ritesh (23) died in a road accident. After that, the rivalry between the two families became stronger. Harisingh had also abused Jagdish’s wife, Seemabai, and threatened to kill her. A case was filed against him, which is currently under trial in court. On Friday morning, Sheetal and Kuldeep were going to sit for their 10th-grade exam. At that time, Harisingh and Hemant attacked them with sticks and rods. Neighbours intervened, causing the attackers to flee, but they were later caught. The family took Sheetal and Kuldeep to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Funeral held under police supervision The family, angry over the children’s deaths, created a major disturbance outside the postmortem room. They assaulted a constable. Police present at the scene intervened to control the situation. On receiving information about the incident, Ashta police station in-charge Girish Dubey and Parvati police station in-charge Harisingh Parmar arrived with forces. After a long period of persuasion, the situation was brought under control. Both bodies were cremated under police supervision.
