More than double the number of injured people reached government hospitals for treatment compared to normal days. Sagar on top, cases increased in many districts Among the 948 road accidents recorded in the state, Sagar district ranked first with 67 cases. This was followed by Vidisha with 55, Indore with 46, and Jabalpur with 45 accidents. The situation also remained serious in the districts of Mahakoshal and Vindhya regions. Rewa and Satna recorded 42 accidents each, and Raisen recorded 41. The capital Bhopal reported 39 accidents, placing it eighth on the list. Meanwhile, a significant number of road accidents also occurred in Chhindwara (30), Dhar (28), Singrauli (27), Khargone and Balaghat (25-25). Intoxication and high speed became major reasons Tarun Singh Parihar, Senior Manager of 108 Ambulance Service, stated that high speed, driving under the influence of alcohol, and disregard for traffic rules are the main causes of road accidents. He said that incidents of driving under the influence increase during Holi. This time, the number of accidents caused by intoxication has been higher compared to last year. Double the usual cases in Bhopal During Holi, 62 injured people related to road accidents arrived for treatment at government hospitals in the capital Bhopal. Whereas on normal days, this number remains between 20 and 25. According to hospital sources, most of the injured included bike riders. In many cases, helmets were not used, leading to severe head injuries. Up to 30 percent mortality rate in trauma cases According to Community Medicine specialist Dr. Kuldeep Gupta, a research has found that 3 out of 10 seriously injured patients brought in trauma after a road accident do not survive. He stated that in most cases, traffic rules were not followed. Wearing a helmet is extremely important for bike riders, as head injuries can prove fatal. There are also many examples where a person’s life was saved despite a serious accident due to wearing a helmet. Neglect of helmet and seatbelt Tarun Singh Parihar stated that in most cases, people do not use helmets and seatbelts. Even minor accidents become serious for this reason. He appealed to people to follow all rules while driving. In any emergency, use ambulance services instead of transporting in a private vehicle, as it contains life-saving equipment and trained staff. Awareness is the way to prevention Experts believe that extra caution is needed during festivals. The festive atmosphere should not be a reason to ignore road safety rules. The increasing accidents due to high speed and negligence indicate that a comprehensive awareness campaign for road safety and strict enforcement are needed, so that such figures can be reduced in the coming time.
