A 13-year-old boy, struck by lightning, had to wait for two hours at Rewa’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital before being admitted. His family was forced to hold the IV drip themselves as staff delayed treatment. The hospital superintendent has expressed serious displeasure and ordered an investigation. Child struck by lightning The incident occurred on Saturday. Family members said lightning had struck the child in Mahoba Nanora on August 30. Initially, he was admitted to Mahoba District Hospital. After recovering, he went to Panna, where his condition suddenly worsened. Doctors referred him to Rewa District Hospital. Family forced to hold drip At Rewa, the family first went to the burn ward. They were refused admission. Then they were sent to ward number 7, but still, the child was not admitted. Distressed, the family held the IV drip themselves and called the Chief Minister’s helpline for help. Child finally admitted After two hours, the child was admitted to the children’s ward. By then, his condition had deteriorated significantly. He is now on a ventilator, fighting for his life. Hospital Superintendent responds Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rahul Mishra expressed strong displeasure over the incident. He has ordered a strict investigation. Dr. Mishra said negligence would not be tolerated in such sensitive cases.
