The Madhya Pradesh High Court has refused to grant bail to Saurabh Sharma, a former RTO constable facing charges in a money laundering case. On Saturday, Justice Pramod Agrawal delivered a 26-page reserved order on the matter. The court said the allegations against Sharma are serious, so giving him bail is not suitable at this stage. It should be noted that Saurabh Sharma has been in judicial custody since February 4. Earlier, on July 30, the court had reserved its judgment after hearing the case. Saurabh Sharma’s lawyer had argued in court during the hearing that all the money recovered from Saurabh Sharma so far does not entirely belong to him. He has no connection with the properties that are not in Sharma’s name. On the other hand, the ED had informed the court that Sharma himself had acquired the properties and then put them in the names of his friends and relatives. Prior to this, on April 24, 2025, the Bhopal Court had rejected Saurabh Sharma’s bail application in the case registered by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Raids were initiated at Saurabh Sharma’s premises on December 17, 2024. ED’s advocate Vikram Singh informed the court that assets worth Rs 108 crore have been attached in this case, which Saurabh Sharma had purchased in the names of his friends and relatives. Gold jewelry worth Rs 2 crore found from lockers The said properties were purchased by the accused Saurabh Sharma with illegally acquired money. He also stated that recently, when Saurabh Sharma’s lockers were searched, gold jewelry worth Rs 2 crore was also found in them. It was also stated that all this money belongs to Saurabh Sharma. It is to be noted that the Lokayukta had raided the house of Saurabh Sharma, who was a constable in the RTO. Upon finding benami property, the ED had registered a case against Saurabh Sharma and 12 other individuals, including his family members. Accused Saurabh Sharma has been in judicial custody since February 4. The District Court had refused to grant him bail in the case registered by the ED. Following this, the accused had filed a bail application in the High Court. ED-Income Tax Department is investigating The ED, Lokayukta, Gwalior Police, along with the Income Tax Department, are investigating the Saurabh Sharma case. The accused had filed a petition in the High Court for bail. On July 30, the court had reserved its decision after hearing the 10th appearance. On Saturday, Justice Pramod Kumar Agrawal’s court, while hearing the reserved decision, rejected Saurabh Sharma’s bail application.
