Asaduddin Owaisi slams election commission over voter verification in Bihar: Alleges backdoor NRC implementation; cites legal, practical concerns for poor

Asaduddin Owaisi, the AIMIM president, has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) through the backdoor in Bihar ahead of assembly elections. He claims the ECI’s demand for extensive birth documents, including those of parents, for voter enrollment will disenfranchise Bihar’s poor, especially in the Seemanchal region.
