After entering 15 districts in southeastern Madhya Pradesh, the monsoon has stalled and has not advanced for the past three days. According to the IMD’s Meteorological Centre, the monsoon may remain stationary for another 2-3 days. Once it resumes, it is expected to first cover the Bhopal and Ujjain divisions before finally reaching the Gwalior-Chambal region. The monsoon entered the state on 24 June, covering Alirajpur, Indore, Harda, Dhar, Betul, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Khargone, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Barwani and Dindori. Since then, it has not progressed further. The Meteorological Department said conditions are favourable for its advance into more parts of the state over the next 2-3 days. Rain forecast today The IMD has predicted rain in Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Indore, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Burhanpur, Barwani, Khandwa, Khargone, Ujjain, Ratlam, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Dewas, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Jabalpur, Katni, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Mauganj, Maihar, Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur, Sagar, Panna, Damoh and Chhatarpur. Light to moderate rain may also occur at isolated places in Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Niwari and Tikamgarh districts. 2 inches of water fell in Seoni Earlier on Friday, there was a spell of strong winds and rain. About 2 inches of water fell in Seoni. Shujalpur, Akodia, and the surrounding areas of Shajapur received heavy rainfall. More than one and a half inches of water fell in Ujjain. Meanwhile, strong winds and rain continued in many districts, including Datia, Indore, Rajgarh, Shivpuri, Mandla, Rewa, Sagar, Balaghat, Khandwa, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, and Mandsaur. In Birwa Gram Panchayat of Baihar tehsil in Balaghat, 3 people, including 2 children, died due to lightning, while 6 people were injured. The deceased have been identified as Lalki Meravi, Jhamsingh Taram (35), and Satish Valkey. Meanwhile, in Khatamba village of Dewas, a gallery collapsed due to a storm and rain during sun worship. In the accident, 2 women died, while 3 people, including a child, were injured. The deceased have been identified as Laxmibai and Bhagwantabai. Due to the storm and rain, there has been a significant drop in daytime temperatures. In Khargone, the temperature dropped to a minimum of 30 degrees. It was 30.1 degrees in Khandwa, 31.1 degrees in Sagar, 31.8 degrees in Chhindwara, 32.7 degrees in Betul, 33.2 degrees in Seoni-Umaria, 33.4 degrees in Dhar, and 33.8 degrees Celsius in Narmadapuram. Among the 5 major cities of the state, Bhopal-Indore recorded 33.8 degrees, Ujjain 33.5 degrees, Jabalpur 36.7 degrees, and Gwalior 41.8 degrees Celsius. Jabalpur: Monsoon brings strong June rainfall Jabalpur receives good rainfall with the arrival of the monsoon, which usually enters the state through the southern part of the Jabalpur division. Ujjain: Consistent June rainfall trend Ujjain has consistently recorded good rainfall in June. Between 2016 and 2025, the city received 2.5 to 8 inches of rain during the month. The all-time June rainfall record is over 13.5 inches in 1970. The highest 24-hour rainfall was about 6.5 inches on 15 June, 2001. In 2025, Ujjain recorded more than 8 inches of rainfall during June.
