The Indore Police had claimed to have seized 198 grams of MD drugs worth crores of rupees, but forensic tests later found the substance to be ordinary urea. A court has acquitted all three accused in the case, including a dismissed police constable. Following the acquittal, the former policeman has accused 19 police personnel, including two IPS officers, of falsely implicating him in the case. Three arrested in alleged drugs case Around 16 months ago, Indore Police arrested Vijay Patidar and Shahnawaz Sheikh, claiming to have recovered 198 grams of MD drugs from them. During questioning, both allegedly named police constable Lakhan Gupta, following which he was arrested and sent to jail. He was later dismissed from service. After being acquitted, Lakhan Gupta filed a complaint before the Special Court in the Indore District Court. Bhopal and Hyderabad labs identify substance as urea During the investigation, samples of the seized substance were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Bhopal. The report confirmed that the substance was urea and not any narcotic drug. The police then sent another sample to the Central Forensic Laboratory in Hyderabad. The second report also identified the substance as urea. Based on both forensic reports, the court acquitted all three accused, including Lakhan Gupta. Former constable alleges conspiracy After his acquittal, Lakhan Gupta moved the Special Court seeking action against 19 police personnel, including two IPS officers. He alleged that he was falsely implicated in a well-planned conspiracy. According to Lakhan, some police personnel used an informer to make the accused name him during interrogation. He claimed he was picked up from Azad Nagar, taken to Tejaji Nagar police station, questioned, arrested and later dismissed from service. Court to hear complaint Lakhan’s lawyer, Nitin Parashar, said the complaint seeks action under various legal provisions. The Special Court has scheduled the matter for hearing on June 27. The court may order an investigation, direct registration of an FIR, or pass other legal orders. The case has raised questions over the police investigation, as the substance initially claimed to be MD drugs worth crores was identified as urea by both government forensic laboratories.
