A dispute during a wedding ceremony in the Dimni police station area of Morena district turned into a tragic incident. A son-in-law, who had come to attend a wedding program organised at his in-laws’ house, jumped into a pond late Saturday night after an argument, leading to his death. Upon receiving information, police and SDRF teams reached the spot at 6 am on Sunday. After a rescue operation that lasted for several hours, the body was recovered. According to information, Devendra Jatav, a resident of Tussan Ka Pura in Nagra police station area, had come to his in-laws’ village, Panchampura to attend his brother-in-law’s wedding. During the wedding ceremony, he had a dispute with his father-in-law and brother-in-law over some matter. As the argument escalated, an enraged Devendra went to a nearby pond and jumped into it. Body recovered after overnight search According to eyewitnesses, when Devendra jumped into the pond, his brother-in-law tried to save him. However, Devendra bit his hand during the rescue attempt, causing it to fail, and he drowned in the deep water. After being informed, police called in the SDRF team. Following an overnight search, Devendra’s body was recovered from the pond around 6 am. DSP Headquarters Vijay Bhadauria said preliminary investigations suggest he jumped into the pond after a dispute with his in-laws. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are probing all angles of the incident.
