Gwalior police are struggling to catch the masked miscreants who robbed a couple returning from a Bhagwat Katha in Morena, snatching their mangalsutra at gunpoint. The last location of the robbers, who committed the crime and fled after firing at passersby in Tikri village, was found near Piparsewa village. Here, bike-borne snatchers were caught on a CCTV camera installed on a building. After that, they suddenly disappeared. Police suspect that the miscreants, fearing capture, left the main highway and used link roads leading to rural areas or other districts via Piparsewa. Working on ‘route mapping’, CCTV footage from petrol pumps, hotels-resorts being scanned Joint teams of Maharajpura and Bijoli police stations are engaged in decoding the escape route of the criminals. To search for the criminals, the police have now started scanning the CCTV footage from three different routes branching off from Piparsewa village and the petrol pumps, dhabas, and shops located there. With the help of technical experts, the police are checking in which direction two suspicious youths, masked and wearing shirts, were seen going on a black Apache bike between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM on Thursday night. Two Mangalsutras snatched and looted Ramvaran Pal, a resident of Bijoli, was returning with his wife Reena and 4-year-old son Ayush from a Bhagwat Katha organized at his in-laws’ house in Banmore, Morena. Near Lakshmangarh bridge, two masked men on an Apache bike came from behind and snatched two mangalsutras weighing one and a half tola gold from Reena’s neck in just 10 seconds. During this, Ramvaran’s bike narrowly avoided falling, otherwise, a serious accident could have occurred due to fast-moving vehicles passing from behind on the highway. After the incident, when the criminals fled towards Tikri village of Rithaura, some brave passers-by tried to surround them. But the cunning robbers took out a country-made pistol from their waist, directly fired bullets at the passers-by, and creating panic, they escaped towards Pipersewa. Some previous incidents are untraced The route of the miscreants is being traced through CCTV footage. The last footage of the miscreants was found near the Piparsewa area, after which they turned onto raw and rural roads. Our Crime Branch and Maharajpura Police teams are jointly scouring the CCTV cameras on the border routes connecting Piparsewa to Uttar Pradesh and neighboring districts (Morena/Bhind). Local informants have also been activated. Soon, this Apache gang will be exposed and the looted goods will be recovered.
