In Indore’s Sanwer Road area, more than 40 people were injured on Friday after a stray dog went on a biting spree. The victims include doctors, nurses, medical students, patients, security guards and passersby. Among them, more than 16 people are associated with Aurobindo Hospital. Around 8 am, the stray dog reportedly entered the Aurobindo Hospital campus from the rear side and first attacked hospital staff. After that, it moved across different parts of the Sanwer Road area, biting people at multiple locations. The dog later reached areas including Revati Range, Bardari village, LNCT College, Renaissance College, Narsee Monjee College and nearby rural regions. Following the incident, panic has spread among villagers, students and staff. Many people are avoiding going out alone, while parents have also raised concerns about children’s safety. Atmosphere of fear in villages and schools-colleges as well On Saturday, two teams of the municipal corporation reached Aurobindo Hospital and conducted a search operation, during which 25 stray dogs have been captured so far. However, the dog responsible for the attack has not yet been caught. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing people running to save themselves during the attack. They were administered anti-rabies vaccine along with other necessary treatment. Those treated at Aurobindo Hospital include Dr Smriti, Dr Akshita, Sachin Rajput, Anjani Sharma, Seema, Shobha, Parinita, Kusum, Pranav Gupta, Govinda, Vishnu, Afsar, Rajiv Dhakad and Aryan, among others. More than 16 victims treated at Aravindo Local residents and hospital management have demanded that the municipal corporation immediately capture the attacking dog. They said fear will continue in the area until the dog is caught. The municipal corporation has stated that the drive is ongoing and additional teams will be deployed if required.
