A mother and her teenage daughter remain trapped under debris after the wall of a newly constructed well collapsed in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday. The incident occurred while the family was curing the well with water. A 75-year-old grandmother was rescued by villagers and rushed to hospital, while efforts are ongoing to save the other two family members. Incident occurred in Dukli village The accident took place at around 4 pm in Dukli village under the Badol police station area. According to local residents, members of the Janghela family had recently constructed a well about 400 metres from their home. The well’s cement wall had been built only a few days ago. On Monday, Samaniya Bai Janghela, 75, had gone to the well along with her daughter Anusuya Janghela, 41, and granddaughter Swati Janghela, 17, to carry out water curing work. During the process, the wall suddenly collapsed, burying all three under the debris. She was admitted to Seoni District Hospital, where doctors are monitoring her condition. However, Anusuya and Swati remain trapped beneath the debris, and rescue teams are continuing efforts to reach them. Rescue operation underway Following information from villagers, police and administrative officials arrived at the site and launched a rescue operation. Rescue personnel are using two JCB machines and other equipment to carefully remove the debris. Local residents are also assisting in the operation. As a safety precaution, police have cordoned off the area while rescue efforts continue.
