A 25-year-old woman lost both her legs after falling between a moving train and the platform while attempting to board the train at Itarsi Railway Junction on Monday morning. Her three-year-old son, who was with her at the time, also fell but escaped with minor injuries. CCTV footage of the incident has since emerged, showing the woman running alongside the train with her child before losing her balance and falling. According to railway officials, Anjali Kashyap, a resident of Bilpura Madai village in Jabalpur district, was travelling with her three-year-old son on Train No. 22187, the Rani Kamalapati–Adhartal Intercity Superfast Express. As the train began departing from Itarsi station on Monday morning, she attempted to board the moving train. During the attempt, she lost her balance and fell with her child into the gap between the train and the platform. Passengers pulled alarm chain to stop train The incident caused panic among passengers on the platform. Co-passengers immediately pulled the alarm chain, bringing the train to a halt, and alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF). RPF personnel, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Vikram Singh and staff members Jaswant Singh, Rajesh Kumar and Nawab Singh, rushed to the spot. With the help of railway employees and sanitation workers, the woman and child were rescued from the tracks. Due to the severity of her injuries, the woman was taken to a government hospital in a private auto-rickshaw without waiting for an ambulance. Her condition remains serious. The child suffered minor injuries to his back and is also undergoing treatment at the hospital. Train delayed following incident Railway authorities said the Adhartal Intercity arrived at Itarsi station at 6:33 am. Following the accident, the train remained halted for about 30 minutes and departed at 7:09 am. CCTV captures the accident The CCTV footage shows the woman running alongside the train with her child in an attempt to board it after it had started moving. Moments later, she appears to slip and fall into the gap between the train and the platform. Following the incident, railway officials once again urged passengers not to board or disembark from moving trains, warning that such attempts can lead to serious or fatal accidents.
