new-oil-company-rules-raise-diesel-costs:bhopal-civic-body-faces-extra-₹2.5-crore-burden-every-month

Oil companies have implemented new rules for customers who buy petrol and diesel in bulk. Now they will have to buy fuel up to 30 percent more expensive than ordinary consumers. This has increased their difficulties. If we talk about Bhopal Municipal Corporation, now it will have to pay 49 rupees more per liter. This will cost the corporation an additional two and a half crore rupees every month. It should be noted that a few days ago, oil companies had increased the prices of diesel-petrol for bulk consumers. Now the companies have given strict instructions to pump operators that bulk consumers should be given diesel-petrol not at a discount rate, but at the prescribed bulk rate. The companies have also warned that if any pump provides diesel-petrol to bulk consumers at lower rates, action will be taken against the concerned pump operators. Its effect has started to be seen in Bhopal. Refusal to provide diesel at old rates When the municipal corporation’s garbage collection vehicles arrived at the designated retail pumps to get diesel, the pump operators refused to provide diesel at the old rates. Employees were informed that bulk consumers would now receive diesel at a rate of 142 rupees per liter. Previously, the municipal corporation was getting diesel at a rate of approximately 93 rupees per liter. This means there is a difference of about 49 rupees per liter between the new and old rates. Impact on Garbage Collection Work It is reported that due to the non-availability of diesel from the pumps on time, garbage collection work was affected for about 2 to 3 hours. After the intervention of officials, diesel supply from the pumps resumed, following which garbage collection was restarted. Its impact was also visible on the city’s sanitation system. In many areas, door-to-door garbage collection was delayed, while in some places, vehicles could not reach on time.
