The northern parts, namely Gwalior-Chambal, Sagar, Rewa, and Ujjain divisions, are in the grip of a heatwave. According to the Meteorological Center Bhopal, the spell of intense heat will continue in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for a total of 42 districts on Saturday. There is a red alert in Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, and Panna, while an orange alert for severe heatwave has been issued for 21 districts, including Gwalior. There is a yellow alert for a heatwave in 18 districts. Earlier on Friday, the maximum temperature in 10 cities of the state exceeded 44 degrees Celsius. Two cities of Chhatarpur – Naogaon and Khajuraho – were the hottest in the state. The mercury was recorded at 46.8 degrees in Naogaon and 46.4 degrees in Khajuraho. In Tikamgarh-Satna, it was 44.5 degrees; in Datia, 44.4 degrees; in Narsinghpur-Damoh, 44.2 degrees; and in Sagar-Rajgarh, the mercury was 44 degrees. Khajuraho and Nowgong recorded temperatures above 46°C, while 10 cities in Madhya Pradesh crossed the 44°C mark (Note: Maximum temperatures recorded on May 22, in degrees Celsius.) Jabalpur was the hottest among the 5 major cities of the state. Here, the maximum temperature recorded was 44 degrees. In Gwalior, the mercury reached 43.7 degrees, in Bhopal 42.2 degrees, in Indore 41.4 degrees, and in Ujjain 42 degrees Celsius. Red alert in 3 districts: Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur and Panna. Orange alert for severe heatwave in 21 districts: Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Sheopur, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sagar, Damoh, Niwari, Katni, Umaria, Maihar, Satna, Mauganj and Rewa. Yellow Alert for Heatwave in 18 Districts: Bhopal, Ratlam, Ujjain, Shajapur, Sehore, Raisen, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Shahdol, Sidhi, Singrauli, Khargone, Barwani, Khandwa and Burhanpur. Intense Heat in 13 Districts: Indore, Dewas, Dhar, Barwani, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni and Balaghat. According to the Meteorological Department, this spell of heat will remain at its peak till May 31. The department has issued a heat forecast for the next 4 days, i.e., till May 26. It has been stated that intense heat will continue throughout the state for four days, meaning people will not get relief from the heat. Nautapa is starting from May 25. During these 9 days, the entire state, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior-Jabalpur, will experience scorching heat. Stay indoors in the afternoon to avoid heatstroke Meteorologist HS Pandey stated that the heat will be more intense from 12 PM to 3 PM. In such a situation, people should only go out of their homes if necessary. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and keep your body hydrated. Wear light-colored cotton clothes.
