Junior doctor dies after alleged breakup pressure:Family blames opposition to inter-caste marriage, raises allegations of harassment

The family has alleged that Aman had been in a relationship with a fellow female student from the same college for the past three years. They claim that recent strain in the relationship and emotional distress pushed him to take the extreme step. Aman’s sister Vandana Patel said the two were serious about marriage, but in recent times the woman had started talking to another person, which left Aman deeply disturbed. She added that the two had also spoken over the phone shortly before the incident. According to the family, the woman allegedly refused to talk and told him, “do whatever you want”, after which Aman went to the hostel terrace and jumped. His body was found on the night of May 17 around 2 am near Block No. 5 of the MGM Boys Hostel campus. Made the last phone call to mother Before the incident, around midnight, Aman called his paralysed mother and said, “I am not feeling well.” He later sent his mobile password to a friend. Police have seized his phone and laptop and are examining call records and chats. Family members demanded impartial investigation Friends and family also claim that the woman’s family had opposed an inter-caste marriage, which increased tension between the couple. It is also alleged that her parents had visited Indore about 24 hours before the incident. The family has demanded a fair and thorough investigation. The girl’s family members came to Indore 24 hours earlier A close friend of Aman, currently studying at AIIMS Bhopal, said the two had been close friends for over 11 years. He claimed Aman had said the woman had assured him of marriage. In early May 2026, the couple had also travelled together to Jabalpur and visited places like Bhedaghat. According to friends, the woman’s parents reached Indore about a day before the incident and strongly opposed the relationship. Following family pressure, the woman reportedly distanced herself from Aman, leaving him under severe mental stress. Girlfriend Absent During Last Rites A friend also raised questions, stating that the woman was not present during Aman’s post-mortem and final rites. He questioned her absence despite claims of a long-term relationship. Friends have said they possess key evidence related to the case and are ready to hand it over to the police for investigation.
