In Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, the administration carried out a raid on an illegal ghee factory under the leadership of City Magistrate Bajrang Bahadur. During the operation, around 3,350 litres of suspected ghee prepared using animal fat was recovered. The ghee was packed in 69 tins and 9 blue drums. Animal fat and animal remains recovered from site During the raid, a large quantity of animal fat and cattle skin was also found. Piles of hides were stored inside the factory premises. The entire material was seized by the administration and transported safely in four municipal corporation trucks. In addition, remains of cattle were recovered in three trucks from the site. Police have detained two accused from the spot, and questioning is underway. The illegal factory was reportedly operating since 2015. During the raid, City Magistrate Bajrang Bahadur, Municipal Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sitole, and CSP Abhinav Barange were present. Samples of ghee and remains sent for testing The liquid ghee filled in 9 drums and 69 tins was seized by the administration as it was suspected to be fake. The veterinary department has collected samples of the remains and sent them for laboratory testing. The report will confirm which animals the ghee was made from. Residents claim foul smell caused diseases in children Residents alleged that hundreds of cattle were brought to the site daily and slaughtered. They said multiple complaints had been made earlier, but no strong action was taken. The strong stench coming from the factory caused health issues among children. People falling sick due to foul smell Locals said children and elderly people have developed illnesses similar to cholera. They also alleged that even though a health department team visited the site earlier, no strict action was taken and the issue was ignored. Allegations of cow slaughter; MLA expresses anger Khandwa MLA Kanchan Tanve, along with BJP leaders, reached the spot. She alleged that cattle were brutally slaughtered and said the matter would be taken to the Chief Minister. However, the administration has not yet confirmed this claim. Magistrate says confirmation only after investigation City Magistrate Bajrang Bahadur said that only after laboratory testing will it be confirmed whether the recovered remains belong to cows or other animals. He also said discussions are underway with senior officials regarding action under stringent laws including NSA against the accused. Two accused including main operator detained According to CSP Abhinav Barange, Anwar son of Bismillah Qureshi and his associate Shakeel son of Ismail Qureshi have been detained. Both are being interrogated. Their call details are being examined to uncover the entire network and supply chain. Investigation continues, multiple departments involved At present, the administration is continuing the seizure process of animal hides. The GST department and animal husbandry department are also involved in the investigation. Further names linked to the network are expected to be revealed after interrogation.
