On the occasion of Rangpanchami, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on Sunday. In the morning, the Chief Minister offered prayers to Veerbhadra and worshipped the Mahakal flag. He also participated in a traditional sword-fighting demonstration. In the evening, a flag procession was taken out from the temple premises. The event is held every year on Rangpanchami after the worship of Veerbhadra. Several tableaux, band groups and religious presentations were part of the procession. The procession, which stretched for about four kilometres, passed through the city’s main routes before returning to the temple. A band group led the procession. It was followed by tableaux of Veerbhadra and Kali, the Ganesh Malwa Band, and Nashik dhol performers. Devotees also witnessed a tableau depicting the sanctum of Mahakal and Nandi. Other attractions included a silver flag canopy, religious tableaux, and Manmahesh riding on an elephant. The procession started from the Mahakal temple and moved through Mahakal Valley, Topkhana, Daulatganj, Fawwara Chowk, Kanthal, Sati Gate, Chhatri Chowk, Gopal Temple, Patni Bazaar and Gudri crossroads before returning to the temple premises.
