from-‘aukaat’-to-‘sajish’,-kailash’s-sharp-attack:amit-shah-calls-vijayvargiya-and-prahlad-to-delhi,-seeks-reason-for-minister’s-anger

Date February 24, 2026. In the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, discussions were underway on the grant demands of the Urban Housing and Development Department. During this discussion, senior Congress MLA Dr. Rajendra Kumar Singh said- Mr. Speaker, this was not our intention, we were saying that the pigeon flying in the house has also come to teach us something. To this, Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said- Mr. Speaker, I don’t know why the pigeon came today, when the house has been running for so long, for so many years. It didn’t come from Delhi, did it? (laughter) I have seen a pigeon inside for the first time. Kailash Vijayvargiya might have said this in jest, but the political tussle between Kailash and the government witnessed during the budget session of the assembly certainly made Delhi sit up and take notice. After the conclusion of the assembly’s budget session, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reached Delhi on February 28, even though his official program was in Sheopur. In Delhi, he met Union Minister Amit Shah, as well as National Organization General Secretary B.L. Santosh. Vijayvargiya and Patel went to Delhi
After the CM’s meeting with these two leaders, Kailash Vijayvargiya received a message from Amit Shah’s office to reach Delhi. After this, he departed from Indore. A similar message was also received by senior minister Prahlad Patel. Sources and experts say that the attitude shown by Kailash Vijayvargiya during the assembly session and the statements he made have somewhere made the party uncomfortable. This meeting was for that reason. In fact, ever since the Bhagirathpura contaminated water case last year, Kailash Vijayvargiya’s stance on the government’s functioning has been sharp. Ajay Jamwal, the regional organization general secretary of MP and Chhattisgarh, was keeping an eye on this. During the session, the CM even had to apologize in the house due to Vijayvargiya’s harsh stance. After all, what were those statements that made the government uncomfortable? Did Kailash’s demeanor suddenly change? Or was it a result of his visible displeasure with the government’s attitude after the Bhagirathpura incident? Or are senior BJP ministers now feeling uncomfortable working with a junior Chief Minister two and a half years after the government was formed? Bhaskar spoke to experts regarding all these questions. Read the report Know about these statements in detail Actually, this statement was given by Kailash Vijayvargiya in a humorous tone. However, during this discussion, political bitterness was also seen between the ruling party and the opposition. Bhopal North MLA Atif Akeel and Barwani MLA Rajan Mandloi had raised the issue through a calling attention motion. Citing 40 to 50 daily dog bite cases in Bhopal and 19,000 registered cases in the year 2025, the opposition cornered the government. It was also alleged that about 2 crore rupees are being spent annually on sterilization and vaccination in the capital, but no significant improvement is seen in the situation on the streets. Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, while responding, used the word ‘shwan’ (a more formal term for dog) instead of ‘kutta’ (dog) and called them old friends of humans. When Congress MLA Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat called him the minister-in-charge of dogs, the ruling party objected to it. Kailash Vijayvargiya also quipped, saying that he has to deal with all the dogs. Kailash advised Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar to stay within his limits because the Adani Group’s name had come up in the discussion. The debate between the two became so heated that the House proceedings had to be adjourned three times. The Congress protested loudly, calling it an insult to tribals. Actually, during the discussion on the Governor’s address, Singhar alleged that the government is favoring the Adani Group. They are preparing to give them a questionable amount of hundreds of thousands of crores of rupees. Singhar claimed that government files are being seen in Adani’s office. On this, Minister Vishwas Sarang objected, stating that the name of a person who is not a member of the house should not be taken. Singhar said, “I have proof of this,” to which Vijayvargiya replied, “If you have it, keep it.” It was after this that Vijayvargiya advised Singhar to stay within his limits. In response, Singhar said, “I will show you your limits.” However, the CM apologized for this statement. Then Kailash said that the CM is the captain, so what’s wrong if he apologized? Actually, Congress had brought an adjournment motion regarding the deaths due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura, Indore. A discussion began on whether the adjournment motion should be accepted or not. Kailash Vijayvargiya said that the Bhagirathpura area is like Dharavi in Mumbai. It is an 80-90 year old settlement. Some uneducated people live there, which makes it difficult for the municipal corporation to work systematically in every respect. In these circumstances, even the employees could not work properly. He described the incident as a stigma and a matter of personal remorse. He admitted the fault of the officers and also said that the Congress’s protest was wrong. Where balm was needed, political mileage was sought over dead bodies. On this, the Leader of Opposition said that he had gone to express condolences, not to do politics. During this discussion, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar alleged that the minister is calling the Bhagirathpura incident a disgrace and a source of self-reproach, but he doesn’t even know how many deaths occurred. The government is reporting 20 deaths, while in reality, the media has reported 35 deaths. Jaivardhan Singh also said that when he questioned the Health Minister in this session, he presented different figures for the deaths. The government does not want to disclose how many deaths occurred. A heated debate ensued in the House regarding this. After this, in the room of Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Kailash Vijayvargiya, in the presence of State President Hemant Khandelwal, said that officers are conspiring against him. He was not given the correct death figures. Because of the officers, the opposition got an opportunity to corner him. Sources say that the Speaker of the Assembly called ACS Sanjay Dubey to his chamber and asked why such a reply was written? Kailash Vijayvargiya said that whoever prepared the reply should be suspended. Sanjay Dubey said that since the reply came with his signature, he should be suspended. He also said that the reply was not wrong. 20 deaths occurred in Bhagirathpura and the remaining deaths occurred during that time period but not due to contaminated water. Kailash questioned the government’s intention regarding the metro and the master plans of two major cities. In fact, during the discussion on the grant demands of the Urban Development and Housing Department, the Leader of Opposition taunted about the master plans of Bhopal and Indore and asked if the draft was coming by bullock cart, why was there such a delay? In response, Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya replied that the department had already prepared the draft of the master plan and sent it to the Chief Minister a year and a half ago. Its release is the Chief Minister’s prerogative. His approval is awaited. Actually, initiating the discussion, Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh had questioned and said that Bhopal’s master plan expired 20 years ago. No new plan has been made yet. CAG has also raised objections. Kailash also said that he has discussed this with the Chief Minister 3-4 times, and the Chief Minister’s view is that it will have to be reconsidered according to the metropolitan plan. If he says so, the draft will be prepared again. Similarly, he also responded regarding the metro. Union Minister Shah met leaders at different times
After the budget session of the assembly ended on Friday, Kailash Vijayvargiya left for Indore. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and State President Hemant Khandelwal also departed for Delhi. Sources say that on Friday night, Kailash Vijayvargiya was at an event in Indore when he received a call from Amit Shah’s office, inviting him to meet on Saturday morning. Kailash quickly left the event he was attending and departed for Delhi on a late-night flight. On Saturday, he met Amit Shah. Before this, the Chief Minister had already met Shah. However, both leaders shared pictures on their social media platforms, stating that they discussed contemporary issues with the Union Minister. Amit Shah also met state president Khandelwal, but separately. On the other hand, Hemant Khandelwal and the Chief Minister both met national president Nitin Nabin together. Amit Shah had not only called Kailash but also met Prahlad Patel. In such a situation, the presence of top leaders in Delhi and their separate meetings with the Union Minister heated up MP politics. Many kinds of speculations began to be made. Sources say that both leaders were called to Delhi after the commotion in the assembly. Experts said – the pain of many days has now become public
Now, regarding this entire episode in the assembly, experts say that the long-standing pain of senior ministers has now publicly surfaced. Senior journalist and political analyst N.K. Singh says that ever since Mohan Yadav’s government was formed in the state, many senior ministers, who have been senior in terms of party position and experience, have had to work under their junior colleagues. This is painful for these senior ministers, and this pain is now spilling out. He says that in the assembly, we saw that both sides, i.e., the opposition and the faction within the government working against Kailash, are now publicly clashing. Both are being deliberately ignored
Local body elections are next year. Both urban administration and panchayat departments are with senior ministers. Given the bitterness that has come to light, will it affect the elections? Answering this question, NK Singh says that both are senior ministers. Both have had a clean background. Both are seasoned players in politics. I don’t think they will harm the party in the elections. Both will not go to the extent that the high command is forced to take action against them. He says that talking to workers and leaders in Indore will reveal the real root of this. Kailash is being ignored in Indore’s politics itself. This did not happen before. Whoever was the Chief Minister, they used to leave Indore in the hands of Kailash Vijayvargiya. Prahlad Patel used to operate independently.
