On Sunday night, a speeding vehicle hit a husband and wife on a motorcycle from behind near the RTO check post at Satnur Border in Pandhurna district. The accident was so severe that both were dragged for about 20 feet and died on the spot. After the incident, widespread anger spread among the local people, and they blocked the road. The protest lasted from 8 PM to 11:30 PM. The angry crowd vandalized the RTO’s government vehicle and set it on fire to express their protest. The road blockade was lifted after police persuasion. According to Lodhikheda Police Station In-charge AB Marskole, the deceased husband and wife were residents of God Dongri. The couple has been identified as Omprakash Godbole and Sangeeta. The driver is absconding and a search is on for him. RTO collects money in the name of inspection, due to which large vehicles speed away when stopped and accidents occur.
