The Municipal Corporation has intensified inspections in industrial areas to enforce environmental norms and maintain cleanliness. As part of this drive, penalties were imposed on several industrial units in the Sanwer Road and Polo Ground industrial areas under Zone No. 17 and Zone No. 3 for illegally discharging solid waste and wastewater into public drains. Action was taken on Sunday in the Sanwer Road industrial area, which falls under Zone No. 17. Zonal Officer Narendra Kureel said officials found multiple units dumping garbage, industrial waste and wastewater directly into drains during the inspection. Following the violations, the Corporation imposed penalties of ₹50,000 on Lalit Namkeen, ₹35,000 on Megha Polymer, ₹30,000 on Geetika Plastic and ₹25,000 on Usha Organic. The total challan amount issued during the drive was ₹1.40 lakh. The inspection and enforcement operation was conducted in the presence of Zonal Officer Narendra Kureel, CSI Ashish Kapse, Deputy Engineer Siddhant Mehta, along with other officials and staff of the department. Meanwhile, enforcement action was also carried out in the Polo Ground industrial area under Zone No. 3. Zonal Officer Raj Thakur said the drive was conducted in Ward 57 on the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner. During the inspection, Siyano Pharma Company was fined ₹30,000 for failing to operate its Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) properly. Kohinoor Elastic was penalised ₹10,000 for directly discharging wastewater into the sewer line. The total penalty imposed during the action amounted to ₹40,000. The inspection was conducted in the presence of Zonal Officer Raj Thakur, CSI Rajendra Bega and officials from the drainage department. Municipal officials have directed all industrial units in the area to rectify deficiencies in their wastewater management systems within the next two days.
