Man poses as ‘Raja’ to trap Hindu woman in Bhopal:Raped her, filmed obscene videos, later caught and beaten with belts; accused from UP

A case of alleged love jihad has surfaced in the Bagroda industrial area under Katara Hills police station limits in Bhopal. The accused, identified as Uvez, allegedly posed as ‘Raja’ to trap a Hindu woman in a romantic relationship and, on the pretext of marriage, established physical relations with her. During this period, the accused also recorded obscene photos and videos of the woman on his mobile phone. The victim has alleged that later the accused repeatedly raped her by threatening to make the photos and videos viral. When the woman came to know that the accused’s real name was not Raja but Uvez, she protested, but the accused continued to blackmail her. Love affair was going on for a year According to the police, the victim is originally from Betul district and had been living with her family for about one and a half years in a tin-shed slum in the Bagroda industrial area. Her family works at a factory located there. The accused Uvez, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was also living in the same area and working in a factory. As they lived close to each other, they became acquainted and their relationship began about a year ago. Hindu organisations nab accused A few days ago, activists of Hindu organisations came to know about the entire incident. After this, they started keeping a watch on the movements of the youth and the woman. On Friday night at around 8:30 pm, when they saw the two together, the activists caught the accused on the spot and assaulted him. He was later handed over to the police. Police bring woman to police station from AIIMS After receiving information, police reached the spot and took the accused into custody, but the woman was missing at that time. It was later learnt that her brother was admitted to AIIMS hospital. Police reached AIIMS and, in the presence of a woman officer, brought the woman to the police station. Court sends accused to jail under judicial custody On the woman’s complaint, an FIR was registered on Saturday at Katara Hills police station against the accused under charges including rape and other sections. Police arrested the accused and produced him before the court, from where he was sent to jail under judicial custody. Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
