An MD drug manufacturing unit was being run in a field near the backwaters of Gandhi Sagar in Garoth, Mandsaur. Police carried out a late-night raid on Saturday and seized 12.50 kg of crude MD along with a large quantity of chemicals and equipment. The seized material is valued at over Rs 13 crore. The operation was conducted in the forest area of Surjana village, around 30 km from the Garoth police station headquarters, and the search continued throughout the night. Deepak Lohar (32) and Sumit Lohar (19) were arrested from the spot. Both accused are residents of Surjana village. Machines and equipment seized Mandsaur SP Vinod Kumar Meena said the action was taken based on a tip-off from an informer, involving more than 80 policemen from the Garoth division. He confirmed that the seized chemicals were being used to manufacture MD drugs, and that chemical mixing machines, equipment and other materials were recovered from the spot. The accused have been taken into custody and are being interrogated under the NDPS Act. Police are also probing the entire network, supply chain and other associates linked to the case.
