A rape case involving a 19-year-old woman has been reported from Khandwa district. Acting on the victim’s complaint, police have registered a case and arrested the accused. The matter surfaced after the woman, who was married last month, informed her husband about the crime after reaching her in-laws’ house. Accused used to visit victim’s home frequently According to the victim, the accused Sohel (30), son of Ismail Qureshi and a resident of Imli Pura, frequently visited her parental home when she was living there. He was known to the family and often interacted with her relatives, which helped him gain their trust. The victim alleged that on three occasions, when no family members were present at home, the accused found her alone and raped her. Death threats prevented complaint earlier In her statement to the police, the victim said the accused threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Due to fear and his familiarity with the family, she remained silent until her marriage. After the wedding, she shared the incident with her husband, who encouraged her to report the matter to the police. Case registered, accused taken into custody Moghat Road police station in-charge Dhiresh Dharwal said the victim reported that the incidents occurred between December and January, during the period when her engagement had already taken place. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under sections related to rape and criminal intimidation. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is ongoing.
