Shivpuri police have made a big breakthrough in a Kolaras jewellery theft worth around two crore rupees. Two people have been arrested, and police recovered 46 kg of silver, valued at about one and a half crore rupees, which the accused had hidden in pits dug in the ground. Two other suspects are still on the run, and police are searching for them. The incident happened on the night of July 26-27, when unknown thieves broke the shutter of jeweller Girish Kumar Jain’s shop in Sadar Bazar, Kolaras, and stole gold and silver ornaments. Police registered a case under sections 331(4) and 305(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. 200 CCTV cameras scanned, 100 suspects interrogated Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore informed that special teams were formed under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Mule and SDOP Kolaras Sanjay Mishra to investigate the theft. The police scanned footage from over 200 CCTV cameras. Additionally, more than 100 suspects were interrogated in Shivpuri, Gwalior, Morena, and Bhind districts. Technical evidence was also collected with the help of the cyber cell. Came to sell silver and got caught On January 20, 2026, police received information from an informant that the accused Aman Rawat was coming to Shivpuri to sell stolen goods. The police surrounded and apprehended him. Upon searching, silver ornaments were recovered from him. Committed the crime with his uncle During interrogation, the accused Aman Rawat (22), a resident of Khonkar Road Sesai Sadak, confessed that he had committed this theft with his uncle Sanjay Rawat, Janki Rawat, and his uncle’s friend Abhishek Rawat. Based on his tip-off, the police also arrested the second accused Abhishek Rawat (19), a resident of village Kulwara. Sanjay Rawat and Janki Rawat, who were involved in the crime, are currently absconding. Police investigation revealed that the accused, fearing capture, had buried the stolen silver in pits dug in the ground and were waiting for the price of silver to increase. When he needed money, Aman Rawat tried to sell some silver, during which he was caught by the police. Based on the information provided by accused Aman Rawat, silver was dug out from the ground near Thakur Baba’s platform in Khonkar. Similarly, based on the information provided by Abhishek Rawat, silver buried in the ground was also recovered from his village. In this way, the police have recovered a total of 46 kg of silver and gold ornaments, whose estimated value is stated to be 1 crore 53 lakh rupees. The police are continuously raiding in search of the absconding accused.
