On the third day of the fifth Test match of the Ashes series being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Australian batsman Travis Head scored a magnificent century. He completed his century in 105 balls by hitting a cover drive boundary off Josh Tongue’s delivery in the first session of the third day. This is Travis Head’s 12th century in his Test career. This is his third century in the current Ashes series, and his first Test century at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Earlier, Head scored a century in the first Test and the third Test as well. Overall, he crossed the 600-run mark during the ongoing Ashes, in what turned out to be a memorable series for the batsman. Australia 281/3 at Lunch By lunch on the third day, Australia had scored 281 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their second innings. Travis Head was present at the crease with 162 runs off 160 balls. Earlier, by stumps on the second day, Australia had scored 166 runs for 2 wickets, with Head returning unbeaten on 91 runs. Reprieve at 121 Runs During Head’s innings, he received a reprieve at a score of 121 runs. Will Jacks dropped an easy catch off Brydon Carse’s bowling while fielding on the boundary. After this, Head continued to put pressure on England’s bowlers. Earlier, in Matthew Potts’ 44th over, Head hit three consecutive fours off the first three balls, taking Australia’s score to 200/2. England Bowled Out for 384 after Joe Root’s Century Earlier, England’s first innings was restricted to 384 runs. For England, Joe Root played an innings of 160 runs off 242 balls, which included 15 fours. This is his best Test score on Australian soil. Root completed his 41st Test career century on the 146th ball of his innings.
