Apple has a new CEO, but the change at the top comes with a huge price tag. John Ternus has officially taken over as Apple CEO from Tim Cook, and the company has now revealed how much both executives are set to earn in their new roles. According to Apple’s latest filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Ternus will have a target compensation of around ₹551 crore. In comparison, Cook will receive about ₹447 crore as executive chairman. A large part of both packages will come in the form of Apple stock, meaning the final value could rise or fall depending on the company’s share price. How much will John Ternus earn? Ternus’ new package includes an annual salary of around ₹28.5 crore and a target stock award worth about ₹522.5 crore for fiscal 2027. He will also receive a prorated restricted stock unit (RSU) award worth around ₹23.7 crore for fiscal 2026. Most of Ternus’ stock award will depend on Apple’s performance. Around 75% of his ₹522.5 crore equity award will be performance-based, while the remaining 25% will be time-based stock that will vest over four years. What will Tim Cook earn? Cook will earn less after moving from the CEO role to executive chairman. His new package includes an annual salary of around ₹19 crore and planned stock awards worth approximately ₹428 crore for fiscal 2027. This takes his target compensation to around ₹447 crore. Half of Cook’s stock award will be performance-based, while the other half will be time-based and will vest over four years. Apple has also included a special condition for Cook. If he retires after the first anniversary of the stock grant, he can still receive the shares under the original vesting schedule.
