The sixth round of the domestic ODI tournament, Vijay Hazare Trophy, will be played on Tuesday. A total of 19 matches will be played between 38 teams in this round. Indian ODI captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer will return to the field in the 50-over format after nearly two months. Gill, Shreyas return to ODIs
Shubman Gill will play for Punjab against Goa, while Shreyas Iyer will play for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh. This marks the return of both players to ODI cricket after October. They were out of the South Africa tour due to their respective injuries. Their domestic performance is considered important before the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer will also captain Mumbai in place of the injured Shardul Thakur. Virat Kohli will not play for Delhi
Virat Kohli, who played for Delhi in the first two rounds after 15 years, will not feature in the sixth-round match against Railways. Delhi’s head coach, Sarandeep Singh, confirmed this. Making a comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kohli played innings of 131 and 77 runs in two matches. It was believed that he would also play against Railways, but now he will join the Indian team for the ODI series against New Zealand, starting from January 11.
Thanks to half-centuries from captain Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Padikkal, Karnataka has crossed the 100-run mark against Rajasthan. Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, Gujarat’s Urvil Patel has scored a half-century in 36 balls. On the other hand, Railways has lost 5 wickets in 18 overs, scoring 64 runs against Delhi. Hattrick for Bihar’s Shabir Khan in Plate Group Final In the Plate Group final being played in Ranchi, Bihar’s Shabir Khan took a hattrick against Manipur. After losing the toss and batting first, Manipur lost 5 wickets for 21 runs in 5 overs. Of these, 4 wickets were taken by Shabir Khan.
Delhi on top in Group D
Delhi’s team is at the top in Group D, having won four out of their five matches. A win against Railways will almost certainly ensure Delhi’s qualification for the next round. Two domestic matches mandatory
According to BCCI rules, it is mandatory for centrally contracted players to play at least two domestic tournament matches. Kohli has already fulfilled this condition. He is in excellent form in the ODI format. Last month, in the home series against South Africa, he scored two centuries and an unbeaten 65 runs.
