A 50-year-old man, Gopal, sustained serious injuries when a bomb exploded in the forest near Berchha Firing Range in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday evening. He suffered severe burns to his face and hands and was referred to Indore after initial treatment at Madhya Bharat Hospital. According to reports, Gopal was collecting firewood in the forest when he noticed sparks, triggering the explosion. Doctors at the hospital confirmed the injuries were caused by a bomb, not a road accident. The injured was identified through his Aadhar card. Dr Ved Kumari Arya said preliminary investigations confirmed the blast was caused by an explosive device. This marks the second such incident in Berchha village in four days. On December 31, a woman, Soni Bai, was injured when a bomb detonated while she was burning waste outside her home. She continues to receive treatment in Indore. Local residents allege that accidents are frequent as villagers often enter the forest to collect unexploded bombs from the firing range. Entry to firing range prohibited TI Anil Chakre of Badgonda police station said villagers are repeatedly warned against entering the firing range, but the instructions are often ignored. Investigation into Sunday’s incident is ongoing.
