A shocking case has emerged in Bhopal where 45-year-old Ayush Mehta committed suicide by slitting his own throat. His caretaker revealed disturbing details about his long-standing mental illness, violent behaviour, and harassment of women. Mehta had previously attempted suicide earlier this year, and his mental health had been deteriorating since 2002. Mental illness and violent behaviour Ayush Mehta lived in Nehru Nagar. He had completed an MBA but stayed at home. His father, who was an engineer, had passed away. According to police, Ayush’s mental balance had been disturbed since 2002. He often spoke incoherently and behaved violently. Caretaker Manish Chauhan told Dainik Bhaskar that Ayush used to assault his mother over his insistence on getting married. He also claimed to have relationships with several well-known women. Harassment of women Manish said Ayush had molested a female doctor treating his mental illness. He had also made obscene gestures towards a nurse. However, people often ignored him because of his mental condition. Previous suicide attempt Earlier this year in October, Ayush had attempted suicide in his bedroom. He slit his throat with a vegetable knife. His family rushed him to the hospital in time, saving his life. The family was preparing to take him to Delhi for better treatment. Fatal suicide on December 18 On Thursday, 18 December, around 10 PM, Ayush again slit his throat with a vegetable knife in his bedroom. His mother immediately called family members and the police. He was taken to the hospital, but he died during treatment. Post-mortem and investigation Ayush’s body was sent for post-mortem at Hamidia Hospital on Friday. Manish Chauhan said he was appointed as the caretaker by Ayush’s uncle. He learned about the incident from the police and went to the hospital.
