After Mahakal, Kal Bhairava earns ₹3.09 crore from VIP Darshan:₹500 fast-track tickets generated record revenue in just 45 days

The ₹500 fast-track (VIP) darshan ticket introduced at Ujjain’s Kal Bhairav Temple has generated ₹3.09 crore in revenue between May 20 and July 3, temple authorities said. The facility was launched to streamline the growing influx of devotees visiting the temple. Temple Manager Sandhya Markandey said that after the Mahakaleshwar Temple, Kal Bhairav Temple attracts the highest number of devotees in Ujjain. The fast-track darshan system was introduced to ensure smoother crowd management while allowing devotees quicker access through a separate entry route without affecting the regular darshan queue. Daily revenue touches ₹11 lakh during peak rush According to the temple administration, the VIP darshan tickets generate around ₹400,000 to ₹500,000 (₹4–5 lakh) on regular days. During periods of heavy footfall, the daily collection rises to ₹10 to ₹11 lakh. Officials said the revenue depends entirely on the number of devotees visiting the temple. Ticket sales temporarily suspended during heavy crowds Due to the temple’s limited capacity, the number of VIP tickets issued is strictly regulated. When the number of visitors surges unexpectedly, ticket sales are sometimes suspended for 30-minute intervals to prevent overcrowding and maintain order within the temple premises. Maximum rush on weekends and public holidays The temple witnesses its highest footfall on Saturdays, Sundays, Muharram, and other public holidays. During such periods, the administration often suspends VIP ticket sales altogether to ensure smooth crowd management. Officials said that while VIP tickets were earlier issued even during holidays, the overwhelming rush forced the temple administration to revise the practice. Revenue figure excludes days when ticket sales were halted The temple administration clarified that the ₹3.09 crore revenue earned between May 20 and July 3 does not include the days when VIP ticket distribution was suspended due to excessive crowding.
