Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held a high-level review meeting on Sunday in Indore to discuss the city’s major development works. After the meeting, he confirmed that the metro rail route in Indore will remain underground. He also stated that no changes will be made to the current plan for the elevated bridge. The Chief Minister added that decisions regarding the metro and bridge were made based on technical standards and the city’s development needs. Indore-Ujjain metropolitan region expanded Dr. Yadav informed that the proposed Indore-Ujjain Metropolitan Region will now cover approximately 14,000 square kilometres, including Ratlam city. The aim is to develop Indore as a regional economic hub, creating new opportunities in transport, industry, and employment. Previously, the metropolitan region covered 10,000 square kilometres, including portions of Indore, Ujjain, Shajapur, Dhar, and Dewas. The inclusion of Ratlam will accelerate development in all six cities, particularly in industrial and infrastructure projects. Metro underground from Khajrana route The Chief Minister said the decision to make the metro underground along the Khajrana route was taken in the interest of the city. Public representatives and officials had shared their views on the project. The estimated additional cost of ₹800–900 crore will be borne by the state government. Key projects discussed The meeting also focused on several other development priorities, including city traffic improvement, progress on the metro rail project, expansion of bus services, and the groundbreaking of a new MY Hospital building. Presentations were made on the new ring road, bypass and its control areas, as well as the redevelopment project of Public Works Department land in Palasia. Urban development and safety measures Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that with Indore’s growing population and rising traffic pressure, the government is prioritising master plan roads, CCTV installation, and urban traffic management. He emphasised that the night life policy will be implemented alongside strengthened measures for women’s safety and enhanced surveillance in public areas. Development projects reviewed During the meeting, plans were reviewed for several key projects, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-2, the Economic Corridor, the Housing Board project on Hukumchand Mill land, the Startup Park, and the new Convention Center. The Chief Minister also issued guidelines on campaigns against narcotics, implementation of new labour laws, and initiatives for environmental improvement and plantation. Warm welcome at Indore airport Upon his arrival at Indore airport, Dr. Yadav was welcomed by the Mayor and other public representatives. At the airport, he also released a commemorative book marking the 50th anniversary of Sarafa Vidya Niketan School. New hospital to replace old building affected by rats CM Yadav performed the ceremony for the new MY Hospital building in Indore. He said the old building had faced problems due to rats, prompting the construction of a modern facility at a cost of ₹773 crore. The Chief Minister emphasised that the quality of the new building must not be compromised. Hospital’s legacy and modern treatments Dr. Yadav highlighted the hospital’s rich history, noting that over the years, lakhs of patients have benefited from treatments here. Modern procedures, including bone marrow and kidney transplants, are being provided free of cost. On the occasion, he congratulated the health department for its efforts.
