Indore police have arrested a thief with over 100 cases registered against him. The accused, Abdul Rashid, had come from Akola to Indore to collect his parents’ details for SIR but was caught by police. He is the same accused who had earlier beheaded a person to gain notoriety and walked into a police station carrying the severed head. Zone-3 DCP Rajesh Vyas said, Palasia police recovered stolen property worth Rs 7.5 lakh from him, including gold and silver jewellery and a stolen bike worth Rs 50,000. More than 100 serious cases like theft, murder, and attempted murder are registered against Abdul in Indore and Maharashtra. After being caught in a theft in 2006, he fled to Akola. He started living there and committing crimes. 10 days ago, when he came to Indore to fill the SIR form, he stole a bike here. Then he broke into the flat of a hostel owner in Geetanagar. From there, he stole jewellry worth 10 lakh rupees and fled to Akola on the stolen bike. He is currently on a three-day police remand, and Palasia police have informed all police stations in Maharashtra about his arrest. His last recorded criminal case dates back to 2006. The accused has sisters, while his wife and child live in Akola; police said his wife had left home when they went to apprehend him. Accused addicted to drugs ACP Singh said that the accused is a daily wage earner. During the three-day remand, information is being gathered from him on whether he has committed any other crime or incident in Indore. During interrogation, the accused stated that after completing the SIR work, he stole a bike and reached a multi-story building. Seeing a locked flat there, he broke it open and committed the theft. According to the police, he committed the entire incident in just six minutes, which clearly indicates that he is quite professional. Police suspect that another bike theft case may also be revealed by him. The investigation also revealed that the accused is addicted to drugs and has admitted that he consumes all kinds of intoxicants.
