Gwalior is set to host the 101st edition of the All India Tansen Sangeet Samaroh from December 15, marking a special milestone for the celebrated cultural event. Renowned national and international musicians and artists will participate, and the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is also expected to attend the inaugural ceremony. 114 artists to perform at the historic festival Prakash Singh Thakur, Director of the Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet Kala Academy, said that 114 artists from across India will participate this year.
The lineup includes Padma Vibhushan, Padma Shri, and other nationally honoured musicians who will present soulful performances at multiple venues. As part of the festival series, the Urvaran ceremony in Datia has already concluded, while regular musical gatherings continue at 10 locations in Gwalior. Live painting sessions from 10 AM to 6 PM A special attraction this year will be live portrait and painting sessions, open to art lovers from December 15 to 18 at the Tansen Mausoleum in Hazira, from 10 AM to 6 PM. These participants will work together to create artworks inspired by musical performances. Artists from across India to showcase their talent In addition to local participants, 24 artists from fine arts institutes in Indore, Dhar, Khandwa, and Jabalpur, along with 10 national-level artists, will exhibit their work. Main Ceremony to Feature Performances by Renowned Musicians The Tansen Music Festival will host several distinguished classical musicians and ensembles across multiple sessions from 15 to 19 December. Each day will feature a morning session at 10 AM and an evening session starting at 6 PM, showcasing vocal, instrumental, and jugalbandi performances by acclaimed artists from across India and abroad. Painting exhibition based on festival performances A dedicated exhibition featuring paintings inspired by performances at the Tansen Festival will also be held.
Works of 76 artists will be displayed from 10 AM till late evening, offering music lovers a rich visual complement to the musical experience.
