AIIMS Bhopal’s Emergency Department doctor, Rashmi Verma, attempted suicide. She injected herself with anesthesia at home. When her husband saw her, he immediately rushed her to the hospital. Seeing her pulse rate and heartbeat continuously dropping, fellow doctors immediately revived her with CPR. Currently, her condition remains critical. The reason why Dr. Rashmi Verma took this step is not yet clear. Husband says – Everything was normal at home According to fellow doctors, Emergency and Trauma Department Assistant Professor Dr. Rashmi Verma completed her duty on Thursday. After this, she returned home in the evening. Rashmi’s husband, orthopedic specialist Dr. Ratan Verma, brought her to AIIMS around 10:30 PM in an unconscious state. Dr. Ratan said that everything was normal at home. Everyone was doing their own work. When he went to Dr. Rashmi, he found her unconscious. Situation will be clear after 72 hours Doctors treating Rashmi said she is recovering, but the extent of damage to the nerves will only be clear after 72 hours. Currently, she is on ventilator support in the main ICU. AIIMS management says it is not yet clear why Dr. Rashmi took this step. Neither a suicide note was found nor has any information about her messages come to light so far. Among AIIMS’ renowned doctors Dr. Rashmi Verma completed her MBBS degree from MLN Medical College, Prayagraj. She did her MD in General Medicine from BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur. She has also done a certificate course in Diabetes. Besides 3 years of senior residency at AIIMS Bhopal, she has worked as Assistant Professor in institutions like LN Medical College, PMS Bhopal. She has 5 years of teaching experience. Currently, she is actively involved in medical education and ICMR research. She is also handling administrative responsibilities like faculty in-charge of Basic Life Support (BLS) program and Nursing Training Sessions (TEM). Professional interests include diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, palliative care, emergency medicine, and emergency care interventions. According to fellow doctors, Dr. Rashmi has so far covered treatment costs for many poor patients. She also helps such patients get assistance through other organizations.
