A major road accident took place on Saturday night in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh when a Trax vehicle carrying pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh collided with a truck parked on the National Highway. Four people, three men and one woman, died on the spot. Five women passengers sustained serious injuries. Victims Identified The deceased were identified as Khushyal Singh Chauhan (62) of Khajuri village in Khandwa; Bhure Singh Panwar (60) and Santoshi Bai (62), both residents of Bhopada village in Khargone; and Vijay Singh Tomar (65) of Sanavad in Khargone. The group consisted of nine people, and the four who lost their lives included the three men and the woman positioned first from the right in the travel group photo. Rescue efforts and medical care Police and highway patrol teams reached the site immediately after receiving information and launched rescue operations. The injured were taken to the government hospital in Narsaraopet for treatment. Khandwa MP Gyaneshwar Patil contacted Andhra Pradesh government officials, requesting that the bodies be sent back to Khandwa at the earliest and ensuring medical arrangements for the injured. Pilgrimage route and cause of accident According to police, the group had left home on November 10 and were en route to Srisailam after visiting Puri in Odisha, with plans to continue their pilgrimage up to Rameswaram. Preliminary investigation suggests the MUV driver may have fallen drowsy, lost control, and crashed into the stationary truck near Yetturallapadu village in Kotbommali mandal.
