In Bhopal, on Tuesday night, bike-borne miscreants snatched the mobile phone of Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla’s personal assistant (PA). Acting on the complaint, TT Nagar Police registered a case on Wednesday and began searching for the culprits. CCTV footage from cameras installed around the crime scene is being checked. TI Gaurav Singh stated that the complainant, Sudhir Kumar Dubey, son of Ramesh Chandra Dubey, resides in Tulsi Nagar and serves as the PA to Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla. On Tuesday night, Dubey was walking near JP Hospital while speaking on his phone when the incident occurred. Between 8:30 and 9 PM, two men on a bike approached near Taran Medical Store, snatched the mobile phone from Dubey’s hand, and fled the scene. Similar incident involving IG Intelligence earlier This is not the first such case targeting senior officials in Bhopal. On 24 September, a similar robbery took place in the Char Imli area, where Dr Ashish (IPS), IG Intelligence, was robbed of his mobile phone. At the time of the incident, Dr Ashish was walking with his wife when two unidentified bike-borne men approached from behind, snatched his mobile, and escaped. Burglary at Deputy Collector’s vacant residence In another recent incident, a theft occurred at the unoccupied government residence of Deputy Collector Alka Singh Wamankar, also located in the posh Char Imli area of Bhopal. From house number E-8/11, thieves made away with over 10 tolas of gold jewellery worth more than ₹11 lakh, around 250 grams of silver anklets worth ₹40,000, expensive wristwatches, and other valuables. Police yet to find solid evidence Police have detained several suspects for questioning, but no concrete evidence has been found so far. The Habibganj police station has registered an FIR and launched an investigation. According to the police, no CCTV cameras were installed in the Deputy Collector’s house, making it difficult to trace the culprits. TI Sanjeev Chouksey stated that Alka Singh, currently posted at the Revenue Commissioner’s Office, had left for Kerala around 15 days ago for her husband’s medical treatment. During her absence, the house was locked and no security guard was present. String of crimes alarms police and public These back-to-back incidents, the snatching of the Deputy CM’s PA’s phone, the robbery of the IG Intelligence, and the burglary at a Deputy Collector’s home, have raised concerns about rising crime in Bhopal’s high-security and VIP areas. Police officials have intensified patrolling and are examining surveillance footage to identify and apprehend the accused.
